An underdress, a shell, boning, built-in cups, a train: each layer has to be altered in order, and each layer has to move with the others. We specialize in this work at Double Stitch by Sumu, handling brides from Helsinki and the Uusimaa region through two to three fittings in our Liisankatu studio.
Our approach is calm, careful, and specific to your gown. We do not rush bridal work because rushed alterations show on video and in photographs. We build the alteration around you and your schedule, with steam and final presentation before you leave on the wedding day.

Come in with the shoes and undergarments you will wear on the day. We pin every alteration and confirm the vision together.

Alteration Round 1
We sew the main adjustments in the studio: bodice, hem, strap, and support work.
- Step 3
Second Fitting
You try the altered gown. We fine-tune bustle, hem, and fit. Small refinements marked for the final round.
- Step 4
Final Fitting & Steam
One to two weeks before the wedding. Final adjustments, full steam, and bustle training for your party.

Wedding gown alterations are quoted after the first fitting, when we can see construction, fabric, and required work. We do not quote sight-unseen.
